The School of Chinese Language and Culture today: facts and figures

The School was founded in 2018.
516 students are recevining education in two specialities – “Modern Foreign Languages (Chinese and English)” and “Translation and Interpreting (Chinese and English)”.
Instruction is provided by 32 teachers, including six native speakers.
20 partner universities in the PRC and CIS.



Educational Programmes

General Higher Education

Specialty: “Modern Foreign Languages (Chinese and English)”.

  • Duration of study: 4 years.
  • Qualification: Linguist. Teacher.
  • Degree: Bachelor.

Chinese is studied as the first foreign language. English is studied as the second foreign language starting with the second term of the first year.

Profilizations: “Linguocultural Studies”, “Technologies of Language Testing”.

  • Specialty: “Translation and Interpreting”
  • Duration of study: 4.5 years.
  • Qualification: Linguist. Translator.
  • Degree: Bachelor.

Profilizations: “Specialized Translation”, “Lingustic Support of Excursion Activities”. 


Educational Projects

Collaboration with Secondary Education Institutions of the Republic of Belarus

Faculty members are authors of national textbooks on the subject “Chinese Language” for general secondary education institutions.
Creation of Chinese video lessons for the common information and education resource of the Republic of Belarus.
Participation in the implementation of research projects (“Functional Literacy”) that are significant for the education system of the Republic of Belarus.

Cooperation with Organizations in the Republic of Belarus

Faculty members are invited to conduct oral interviews with applicants for professional certification to confirm their qualifications as Chinese language tour guides and guide-interpreters.

Professionally oriented marathon “Chinese in 4 Weeks” (held annually in April)

The goal is to foster an active and creative approach to mastering the Chinese language skills. The university's youth organizations, the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM), the student trade union, and the School's student body actively participate in organizing the marathon. In close collaboration with the Confucius Institute, BSUFL holds the “Professional Communication in Chinese” competition.

The School’s Research Events

The International Research Conference “Chinese Civilization in the Dialogue of Cultures”.

The 11th International Research Conference “Chinese Civilization in the Dialogue of Cultures” was held on March 19-20, 2025. 70 scholars participated, including 10 professors and doctors of science, 21 associate professors and candidates of science from Belarus, the Russian Federation, Latvia, and the People's Republic of China.
